Traditional Taekwondo in York, Pennsylvania

The York Area Taekwondo Academy provides instruction in Korean Taekwondo and Hapkido.  Our classes are offered out of the facilities of Hard Kohr Sports and Fitness.

Taekwondo is a dynamic Korean martial art that leverages on the longer reach of the legs to defend and attack from further away.  Kicking techniques, especially spinning and jumping ones, characterize this unique style.  Taekwondo is considered the world's most practiced martial art in terms of number of practitioners.  It is the national sport of South Korea, and Taekwondo sparring is an official sport of the Summer Olympic Games.

Head Instructor Michael Koons promoted to 4th Dan

My instructors posing with me after my advancement to 4th Dan, Master rank (from left, Master Anthony Grafton, Master Michael Koons, Grandmaster Joe Fox, and Master Thelma Fox.)  Grandmaster Fox and Master Grafton began giving me my martial education nearly 19 years ago at the age of 9.

Words really cannot explain my debt to them for their patient teaching and guidance.  Some instructors say that the holding of advanced rank is a debt unto itself; one which must be paid back by passing on what you have learned.  I hope that as I repay this debt, my students can absorb our knowledge and wisdom, and possibly follow in our paths.
