1st Dan Black Belt Technical Requirements

The 1st Dan Black belt follows the High Red belt.  Taekwondo students of this rank are recognized as seniors, where the belt color signifies their mastery over darkness (meaning that they no longer succumb to evil or irrational fear).  The color black also signifies a taekwondo student's maturity and skill, in that black is the opposite of white.  Students are expected to know all of the below material, as well as the material from previous belts so that they can aide in class instruction.
